Mission

We, the united people of Poblacion Alabel, continuously striving to help for sustainable development in order to make our Barangay more productive in the implementations of our vision/dreams through the following:

  1. Constant coordination with the different sectors in the community for a smooth implementation of new projects, policies, and ordinances.
  2. To reach our dreams through diplomacy, peace, justice, and discipline.
  3. To clean and beautify our surroundings and extend our genuine services to the people.
  4. Create livelihood projects intended for our constituents.

Vision

Barangay Poblacion Alabel will be having a sustainable Economic, Education, Infrastracture, and protective environment together with responsible, disciplined, and God Fearing in sincere public service and good governance.

History

On 1946 after the Worlds War II the first to arrive in the place from the Greener pasture was Mr. Santiago Alaba and Mr. Thomas Beldad with the respective families. They resided as neighbors in Upper Alabel that was then known by the native residents as Molo. They represented the first migrants to this area.

On 1974 another group of migrants headed by Mr. Honoria Lalisan joined the group of early settlers Mr. Alaba and Mr. Beldad and made effort to facilitate the survey of 108 hectares. Lot No. 219-pls-20321 was surveyed and was identified as Beto, later known as Alabel, General Santos Cotabato and now the progressive Barangay Poblacion of the Municipal Alabel, Sarangani Province the site of the Provincial Government of the newly created Sarangani Province.

On October 23, 1949, Mr. Tomas Beldad was appointed as Tenyente del Bario until 1952, and it was during the administration of Mr. Beldad that the first primary school the molo Primary school was established unfortunately, it was razed by fire ad it was later transferred to Beto, now the existing Alabel Central Elementary School. The first school administrator was Mr. Manuel N. Lopez, Sr.

On 1952, the first elected Tenyente del Barrio, Mr. Santiago Alaba, was elected during this year and serve until 1955.

During 1955 the visayans, pioneers elected into office Tenyente del barrio in the person of Mr. Tomas Beldad who served until 1956. It was also during this year that the place named Molo and Beto was renamed aqs ALABEL derived from the surnames of Alaba and Beldad, a move by the Visayans, Muslims and other native residents but with their own vernacular interpretation of LA, which means “God” and BEL means “Flowers or God’s”, through the confirmation of Datu Magalana Mamalumpong, hence the named Alabel.

It was in 1956, Alabel has been legally approved as Barrio Alabel by then Municipal Council of General Santos Cotabato through Resolution No. 182 dated September 17, 1956 with Hon. Pedro Acharon as Mayor. The Resolution was then confined and Approved through Republic Act. No. 1408 during the incumbency of Pres. Ramon Magsaysay.

On 1957 to 1971, the following officials have served as Tenyente del Barrio Alabel, to wit:

1952-1955- Santiago Alaba
1955-1958- Thomas Beldad
1958- Lucio Sarajena (OIC for 9Mos.)
1959-1962- Loreta Pescador
1971- Luciana Alaba (OIC for 90 days.)

It was during 1971, the dreams and aspiration of the pioneers became a reality when Barangay Alabel because the site of Municipal Government of Alabel, South Cotabato ( now Alabel, Sarangani Province) through the representation of Congressman James L. Chiongbian, during this period, the following officials served as Punong Barangay of Barangay Poblacion.

Today, Barangay Poblacion ( Formerly Barrio Alabel) Proudly continues the fore bearings of the pioneering people and drives to continues its quest for progress and development, more as because it is presently made as the site of the Municipal Government and the Provincial Government of Sarangani Province.
