Mission

Angay nga kaming katawhan sa Barangay Bagacay magtambayayong sa pagkab-ot sa among handum ug pagtuman niining tahas.

  1. Igong pagpakabana ug suporta sa Local nga goberno sa nagkalain-laing programa ug kalihukang pangkalambuan sa Barangay.
  2. Pagpahigayon, pagpatunhay sa mga programa/proyekto sa makahatag ug malungtarong panginabuhian nga dili makadaut sa kinaiyahan.
  3. Pagtabang sa paghimo ug pagtuman sa mga tukma nga balaod o Ordinansa sa Barangay.
  4. Makanunayong pakig-alayon ug pakiglambigit sa tanang Sector o ahensya sa Goberno Local/National ug sa mga pribado alang sa dugang kinatibuk-ang programa sa kalambuan.

Vision

Sa tuig 2020, ang Barangay Bagacay adunay maluntarong panginabuhi-an, haum sa mga imprastraktura ug teknolohiya, dekalidad nga edukasyon nga makab-ot pinaagi sa matinud-anong pagdumala sa panggamhanan inubanan sa nagkahi-usa ug himsog nga katawhan diin magapuyo sa lunhaw nga kinaiyahan ug andam sa bisig unsang katalagman.

(In 2020, Barangay Bagacay will hasten a sustainable livelihood, efficient infrastructure and able technological advancement, quality education through effective political leadership while harnessing people’s participation, displaying good social character, living in a peaceful and disaster-proof community.)

History

Most of the pioneering settler of Bagacay came from Barangay Bagacay, Sibunga, Cebu. Place of origin is a basis of naming new foundocality especially people coming from Visayas. Bagacay is a Cebuano term taken from small size bamboo grass that abundantly groing in Bagacay, Sibunga, Cebu.

Bagacay is a forest land within the decade of 1950’s but with the growing population it was converted into an agricultural areas. Today, major crops in Bagacay are cocnut, corn, mango, banana and other cash crops which form part of the barangay economy including raising livestocks.

On June 8, 1966, Bagacay was declared as barangay of General Santos City. Alabel was created into a Municipality, thus, Bagacay became as one of the regular barangay of Alabel on 1971.

The sacrifices and efforts of Barangay leaders, Bagacay is now a progressive place where education, agriculture, infrastructure, health and social welfare program are sustainably developed. Evident to these are the existence of schools, productive crops, graveled roads potable water supply, electricity, communications, social welfare and educated man power resources.
